Open ended system for Rhythmic Gymnastics

The FIG Executive Committee finished their meeting in Cotonou and FIG released a summary of decisions, including that Rhythmic Gymnastics will no longer cap the difficulty score to a 10.0.


The summary states the following:
"The revised Code of Points valid from 1st February 2018 must respect the following principles:
  • The Difficulty score shall not be limited to 10.
  • The number of elements in each category shall be limited.
  • Difficulty elements with small and medium errors shall be given their value.
  • The Execution deductions shall be increased and offer a greater range to better seperate the gymnasts.
  • There must be a reasonable balance between Execution and Difficulty."
Also the 1st Junior World Championships will be held in 2019 in Russia.

The summary also included two nationality changes, efective from Septembr 18th 2018:
  • Adriana Timkova from Slovakia (SVK) to Czech Republic (CZE)
  • Ajsa Mujacic from Crotia (CRO) to Bosnia and Herzegovina (BIH)
