Natalia Gaudio shines at South American Championships

Brazilian olympian Natalia Gaudio dominated the South American Championships celebrated in Cochabamba, Bolivia. Natalia won a total of 6 medals, 5 golds and 1 bronze.

The competition which had participants from Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Argentina and Bolivia was dominated by the brazilian federation, the strongest team in the continent. From the 9 gold medals available between the individual and group competitions, they won all but 1.

The team competition was won by Brazil, Colombia and Chile completed the podium. Natalia Gaudio dominated the apparatus finals, winning all but the hoop final, were colombian Lina Dussán capitalized on Natalia's mistake and took the chance to put herselft at the top of the podium, Mariany Miyamoto took the silver and Gaudio finished in the bronze position. The ball final was won by Gaudio, with Dussán and Miyamoto behind.In the clubs final the podium was the same, but instead of Miyamoto, teammate Karine Walter took the bronze. The biggest surprise came in the ribbon final were Gaudio and Miyamoto took gold and silver respectively, but chilean Javiera Rubilar surpassed both colombians and won bronze.

In the individual all-around Gaudio won easily the title, followed by teammate Miyamoto and Dussán. Again Rubilar surprised by making the biggest leap from qualifications to finals, finishing just out of the medals in 4th place.

In the group competition only three delegations sent their teams, Brazil, Chile and Argentina. Team Brazil took all 3 golds, Team Chile all the silvers and Team Argentina the bronze medals, for the all-around and the two apparatus finals.
